I thought I had an understanding about menopause, but then I came across some information that made me sit up and take notice.  We all know about the night sweats and hot flashes, but apparently, there’s a whole list of random symptoms that aren’t talked about.

For years, I have had an annoying issue with my left ear itching.  The itch comes from inside and is quite intense when it happens.  It has drove my crazy, since I couldn’t figure out why.  Then I came across a post that listed other less talked about symptoms of menopause and the light bulb came on.

Here’s the list. Don’t be surprised if you see one that jumps out at you!

  • Itchy ears from the inside out
  • Burning or buzzing skin for no reason
  • Random electric shock sensations
  • Waking up at 3am anxious and wired
  • Sudden rage with zero warning
  • Brain fog so bad you forget words mid-sentence
  • Metallic taste in your mouth
  • New allergies to products you’ve used for years
  • Joint pain that appears overnight
  • Ringing ears that come and go
  • Feeling exhausted but unable to rest
  • Sudden body odor changes
  • Dry eyes, dry skin, dry patience
  • Feeling “off” but being told everything is normal

Men have no idea what we go through just so we can reproduce the human race.  It starts with menstrual periods that last the majority of our lives, which can be demanding and exhausting all by itself.  Then we hit pre-menopausal, menopausal, then post menopausal.  Fun, fun, fun!  They have no clue how strong we are to be able to handle all that and still deal with their BS.

I think that’s why I get so angry when I see misogynistic, self-serving, ill-informed, stupid men doing their best to stifle and control women and rob them of their God-given rights.  If they had to handle any of the physical demands that we do, they’d stop that crap and act right.  The older I get the less tolerance I seem to have towards ignorant men.  It’s no wonder more and more women are choosing to live a life without a man.

I hope something on this list might ease your mind that you’re not going crazy because you’re having a symptom that’s not usually associated with menopause.  I know the whole itchy ear thing made me feel like I was losing my mind.  Now I know it’s a symptom, so my sanity is secure.

Remember, when entering into this phase of life, you’re not alone. Focus on maximizing your good health.  Eat better, do some type of exercise.  If nothing else, turn on the music and dance.  There are over the counter supplements, and don’t be afraid to speak with your doctor if you think you might need some type of hormone therapy.  There’s no shame in asking for help.
